James W. Myers

James W. Myers, 74, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2021, in his Colony Park residence.

His wife, Carol A. (Nowoczynski) Myers, passed away on June 18, 2013.

Born in Stowe, PA, he was a son of the late William J. and Ethel A. (Swineheart) Myers.

James was a graduate of Reading High School, where he was an excellent pitcher on the baseball team. He proudly served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Marine Corps.

James and his father created William J. Myers and Son Trucking which they owned and operated for many years. Later he worked for Motor Freight Express and H.H. Bealler Flooring Company until his retirement in 2017.

His family was an incredibly important part of his life; he loved any time he could spend with them. James enjoyed hunting and fishing and always looked forward to his next trip to Maine, Idaho, or Bull Run Deer Camp to enjoy the great outdoors. James was an avid Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles fan.

He is survived by his son, Matthew J. Myers, Wyomissing; his sister, Gloria George, Collegeville and his grandson, Matthew J. Myers.

James was predeceased by five siblings: Aldine Koch, William J. Myers, Jr., Wilma A. Penrose, Gerald Myers and Joan Marberger.

Services will be Friday, December 3, 2021, at 1 p.m. at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading; burial with military honors will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park.
