James P. Spirelis, 87, died Oct. 3 at 6:23 a.m. in his residence in Shillington.
He was the husband of Sophia A. (Bienkowski) Spirelis.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Paul and Irene (Argyriou) Spirelis.
Spirelis was employed as a conductor by the Reading Co. from 1940 until his retirement in 1979.
He was a graduate of Reading High School.
Spirelis was a member of St. John Baptist de la Salle Roman Catholic Church, Shillington, where he was an usher.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Spirelis is also survived by a son, James P. Jr., Wyomissing; and a daughter, Dolores M. (Spirelis) Spillane, Charlotte, N.C.
Other survivors include two brothers, Gust, Virginia Beach, Va., and Peter, Wyomissing; and three sisters: Esther (Spirelis) Manolukelli, Robeson Township; Mae (Spirelis) Grzeszczak, Philadelphia; and Victoria (Spirelis) Vastardis, King of Prussia, Montgomery County.
There are also three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. John Baptist de la Salle Church. Burial will be private in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Lebanon County. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
