James C. Smith, 90, died January 15, 2011 in his West Reading residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the husband of Linda (K.) (Wagner) Smart. He was predeceased by his first wife, Theresa (Reinsmith) Smith.
Born in Elizabethtown, he was a son of the late Daniel and Margaret (Conrad) Smith.
James was a graduate of Milton Hershey School for Boys.
He was a machinist for 35 years for Berks Engineering, retiring in 1982.
James was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII, where he served aboard the USS Princeton.
In addition to Linda he is survived by his five children: Connie, wife of William Clewell, Reading; H. William, husband of Debbie Smith, Bernville; Linda, wife of Robert Arbogast, Ashland; Lori, wife of Ray Latshaw, Womelsdorf and Charlie Smart, West Reading. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter, Riley Jade.
He was predeceased by his son, James Smith.
A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. A viewing will be 9 to 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pleasant View Cemetery. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
