James George Petrakes

James George Petrakes, 94, of Spring Township, passed away November 23, 2014, in Reading Hospital surrounded by his loving family.

He was the husband of Rita Mary (Magdalinos) Petrakes.

Born in Reading he was a son of the late Emmanuel and Eftihia (Voliotis) Petrakes.

He was first employed by Textile Machine Works for over 20 years and later for the Twin Valley School District, retiring in 1975.

James was a member of Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, proudly serving on the USS McNair and USS Fleming.

James enjoyed bowling, going out with friends, cars and most importantly his family.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughters: Irene Maria, wife of David Becker, Wyomissing; and Christine, wife of Peter Shaeffer, Bernville; and his granddaughter, Nikki Becker.

Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, 1001 East Wyomissing Boulevard, Reading, PA 19611, with burial to follow in Charles Evans Cemetery. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Contributions may be made to Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church at the above address. Edward J.
