James P. Thomas

James P. Thomas, 85, of Reading, died September 24, 2015, at the Highlands Skilled Nursing.

He was the husband of Nettie J. (Nicrone) Campbell Thomas.

Born in Reading he was the son of the late Peter and Thalia (Demakous) Thomas.

He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1948 and attended Albright College.

James was a Sergeant in the US Army during the Korean War.

He was the owner of Thomas West Reading Diner for 23 years, retiring in 1993.

James was a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Reading.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two children: Georgine, wife of Frank Anton and Kathleen Thomas, all of Washington, DC; four step-children: David, husband of Loretta Campbell, Bern Township, Dennis, husband of Eileen Campbell, Muhlenberg Township, Ilona, wife of Robert Katzenmoyer, Exeter Township and Ann, wife of Jon DiCerchio, Mt. Penn; sixteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren and four siblings: George Thomas, William Thomas, Katherine Ganas and Aphrodite Manning.

He was predeceased by his son, Peter Thomas and three siblings: John Thomas, Paul Thomas and Pauline Constan.

Memorial Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA. Friends may call Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home.
