James J. McKittrick, 82, of 500 Emerson Avenue, Laureldale, died March 29 at 7:17 p.m. in Reading Hospital, where he had been since March 12.
He was the husband of Nancy E. (Michael) McKittrick, married November 8, 1947.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late James J. and Catherine (Hasson) McKittrick.
McKittrick had been employed for 27 years as a compliance officer in the Wage and Hour Division of the U.S. Department of Labor, retiring in 1977.
He was an Army Air Forces veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross. He was a life member of the 463rd Bomb Group (Swoose) Historical Society, Akron, Ohio.
He was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.
He was a 1938 graduate of St. Mary's High School, Gloucester, N.J., and a 1942 graduate of Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.
Other survivors include a daughter, Nancy E. (McKittrick) wife of Thomas J. Hagan of Hatboro, P.A., Montgomery County, and four sons: James J. husband of Carol McKittrick of Paoli, Chester County; Michael J. address unknown; George T. husband of Susan McKittrick of Alexandria, Virginia; and Paul F. McKittrick of New York City.
Other survivors include a sister, Elizabeth A. (McKittrick) wife of Richard Clarland of Ayers Cliff, Quebec, Canada, and five grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels R.C. Church, Hyde Park. Viewing will be held Wednesday from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township.
