James L. "Jim" Lerch Sr., 63, of Womelsdorf, passed away December 5, 2016.
He was the fiancé of Sue Sperber.
Born in Reading, he was the son of the late Harvey A. Lerch Jr., and Myrtle L. Reber, Reading.
Jim was a graduate of Reading High School and Berks Technical Institute, where he received his Associates in Paralegal Studies.
He was a current member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Kutztown and former member of Immanuel U. C. C., Shillington.
Jim was employed by Carpenter Technology Corporation for over 42 years.
He loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing. Jim was a volunteer fire fighter for the Goodwill Hyde Park Fire Co and former Chief of the Carpenter Fire and Rescue. He was a life member of the Neversink Fire Co., Kenhorst Fire Co., NRA and Mohnton Fish and Game. Jim was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose, Faternal Order of Eagles, Womelsdorf VFW, Womelsdorf Rod and Gun Club and Womelsdorf Fire Co .
Jim is survived by his two sons, James L., husband of Christine Lerch, Sinking Spring and Richard A., husband of Cathy Lerch, Reinholds. He is also survived by his half-sister, Joyce, wife of Ronald Phile, Reading and five grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday. December 10, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the Edward J Kuhn Funeral Home Inv., West Reading with burial to following at Laureldale Cememtery. Viewing will be from 8:30 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhome.com.
