James S. Leininger

James ("Jack") S. Leininger, 90, of Shillington, passed away peacefully at Phoebe Berks on Friday, May 19, 2017.

Jack was predeceased by his wife, Betty J. (Davis) Leininger, to whom he was married to for 60 years before her passing in January of 2006.

Born in Shillington, he was the son of the late James and Daisy (Spencer) Leininger.

Jack was a lifelong meat cutter who practiced his trade at Leininger Meats for over 40 years at the Reading Fairgrounds Market as owner before his retirement in 2013.

He was a proud WWII United States Army veteran.

In addition to his wife, he is predeceased by sisters, Ruth Willis, Ethel Hartranft, and Alice McKinney.

Jack is survived by two children: Diane L., wife of William F. Helm, Mohnton; and Scott T., husband of Kathleen M. Leininger, Mohnton; three grandchildren: Jason S. Leininger, Bryan S. Leininger, and Heather M. (Leininger) Hayward; and two great-grandchildren: Sadie E. Leininger and McKenzie M. Hayward.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at 12 noon in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Friends may call from 10 a.m.- 12 noon in the funeral home.
