James L. Thomas

James L. Thomas Sr. 68, of Reading, passed away February 8, 2020 in the Reading Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Jennie V. Thomas, with whom he celebrated 38 years of marriage.

Born in Norristown, he was the son of Richard L. Thomas and Novella S. (Darden), wife of Theodore R.

Avery.

James was a graduate of Norristown High School and also attended Reading Area Community College.

He was a Certified Mechanic and worked for Cambridge Lee as a forklift driver for over 27 years.

James was an avid Philadelphia Eagles fan, enjoyed fixing cars, completing word searches and playing

spades. He had a great sense of humor and joke around with everyone. James most importantly loved

spending all his time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by 11 children, Kizzy Hill, Toby Hill, Nicole Thomas, James Thomas,

Jenniferlyn Thomas, Krystal Thomas, Ashley Thomas, Joseph Thomas, David Thomas, Marlene Thomas

and Chantae Thomas. He is also survived by his four siblings, Sarah Thomas, Caesar Thomas, Christine

Thomas and Denise Thomas; 22 grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

James was predecesased by four siblings, Richard Thomas, Marlene Ford, Patricia Ann Avery, and

Dolores Brown.

Celebration of James Life will be celebrated Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 9 a.m. in the Edward J. Kuhn

Funeral Home Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, PA 19611, with a burial to follow at Charles Evans

Cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday, February 14, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and also Saturday from 8 a.m.
