James Arthur Koch

James Arthur Koch, 73, of Mohnton, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, July 14, 2025.

Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Earl and Lucille (Moyer) Koch. A graduate of Liberty High School, Class of 1970, Jim dedicated much of his life to hard work and craftsmanship as a steel worker, retiring from Penn Iron Works after a long career.

Jim had a deep love for the outdoors, especially time spent boating on Blue Marsh Lake with his family—a place that brought him great joy and peace. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he also enjoyed following current events and never missed a chance to talk politics.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jacqueline (Kern) Koch; his children: Ryan Koch and wife Kyle, Matthew Koch and partner Karen, all of Palmerton; and Misty Witman and husband Robert of Mohnton. He was a proud grandfather to Lorelai, Olyvia, Derrek, and Jayce. Jim is also survived by his sisters, Debra Mertz (Edward) of Nazareth and Cheryl Simock (Wayne) of Melbourne, Florida; his brother-in-law and best friend, Michael Kern; and many nieces and nephews.

Arrangements are entrusted to Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, PA 19611.

Condolences may be shared at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
