James M. Joseph, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, died on Tuesday, November 1 in Pittsfield at the age of 41. He was born on February 11, 1975 in New York City to the late William J. Joseph and Sheila Joseph (née Lynch), and grew up in Southbury, Connecticut. He attended the Taft School in Watertown, Connecticut, where he excelled in athletics, playing baseball, football, and hockey. He went on to attend the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts, where he was a star pitcher for the baseball team. He graduated from Suffolk University Law School in Boston, and worked for many years as a commercial real estate attorney in Hartford. James was known not only for his athletic prowess and intelligence, but also for his irrepressible wit and affability, and he had a large network of friends. In 2013 he married Stacey Farrell of Pittsfield, and together they had a son, Lachlan, who was born in 2014. He was a loving father to Lachlan, in whom he found strength, hope, and joy. In addition to his wife and son, James is survived by his mother, Sheila, of Roxbury, Connecticut, and by his brothers, Brian and Craig. He was predeceased by his siblings Kathleen, William, and Michael. James will be interred with his father and other members of his family in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hamburg, Pennsylvania on November 23. An educational fund for James's son Lachlan has been set up on the GoFundMe website (https://dm2.gofund.me/2xn0mj8), and the family asks that donations be made there in lieu of flowers.
