James J. Janiszewski

James "Jimmy" J. Janiszewski, 62, passed away on January 14, 2025, at the Reading Hospital. Born in Reading, he was the son of Mary Louise (Lazusky) Janiszewski and the late John J. Janiszewski. Jimmy graduated from Holy Name High School in 1980 where he was on the golf team and Drexel University in 1985 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He was employed as a mechanical engineer at Dana Corp. and Reading Body of Bowmansville, from which he retired.

Jimmy was a self-taught mechanic. He enjoyed building model planes and cars and playing the drums. He had an interest in Berks County history and was a member of the Berks Historical Society. Jimmy enjoyed watching the Blue Angels when they came to Reading. He was also a sports fan enjoying weightlifting, NASCAR, and watching both the Phillies and Eagles.

Jimmy is survived by his mother, Mary Louise, brothers, Michael Janiszewski of Reading, and John Janiszewski (Kim) of Temple, three nieces: Sarah of Shillington; Molly of Winchester, MA; and Roxsonna, a student of Purdue University.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church with interment at Gethsemane Cemetery to follow. The visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Peter's RCC at 322 S 5th St, Reading, PA 19602 where he was a member or to the local American Red Cross at 237 Court St, Reading, PA 19601.
