James R. Houck, 60, of Wyomissing, died June 30, 2011 with his family by his side.
He was the husband of Ann (Glosser) Houck. They were married on August 5, 1972.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Harold E. Houck, M.D. and Lillian (Ozman) Houck.
Jim was a 1968 graduate of Wyomissing High School and earned a B.S. in Business & Economics from Lehigh University in 1972.
He was a member of Bausman Memorial United Church of Christ, Wyomissing.
A life-long Berks Countian, he was very loyal to the Reading community, holding a number of leadership positions and serving as a founding member of the Wyomissing Area Education Foundation.
Jim was a trusted business advisor and CPA, starting his career in public accounting in 1973. He was one of the founding partners of Reinsel, Pacific, Langdon, Houck and Beaver (Reinsel & Company LLP) in 1979. Jim has been a Partner with the firm for 32 years with various leadership roles including managing the Small Business Department, and most recently, Leader of the Sterling Financial Division of RKL LLP.
Jim's favorite hobbies were fishing and golfing. He was a sports enthusiast, always rooting for his home teams: Penn State, Flyers, Phillies and Eagles. Jim enjoyed traveling with his wife Ann; they saw much of the United States, Mexico, Caribbean, Europe, Egypt and Tahiti.
Most of all, Jim loved spending time with Ann, his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, William E., husband of Jennifer P. Houck and their children William and Dennis James; and his daughters, Virginia A. Houck and Elizabeth A. Houck. Two siblings, Barbara (Houck) Thampi, Audubon and William K., husband of Suzanne M. (Lesher) Houck, Muhlenberg Twp. also survive him.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 9 at 10 a.m. at Bausman Memorial UCC, 1064 Penn Ave., Wyomissing, PA 19610. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Bausman UCC at the above address or Wyomissing Area Education Foundation, 630 Evans Ave., Wyomissing, PA 19610. Edward J.
