James E. Heilmann

James E. "Jim" Heilmann, 50, gained his wings and went Home Saturday, May 6, 2017, in his West Lawn residence, surrounded by his loving family.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer J. (Himmelmann) Heilmann, whom he married November 20, 1999, his two sons; Luke James Heilmann, and Bryce Kurt Heilmann, his beloved dogs; Snoopy, Oreo, and Vader, and his turtle, Sunny.

Born on May 30, 1966, in West Reading, he was the son of Gloria M. (Bosold) Heilman and the late Edward H. Heilman.

Jim was a member of West Lawn United Methodist Church, West Lawn.

He was a 1984 graduate of Wilson High School, and also earned a bachelor's degree in Metallurgy and a master's degree in Material Science and Engineering from Lehigh University. Jim was a member of Army ROTC and Student Materials Society during his college tenure.

Jim was employed as a metallurgist and manager at CarTech for 29 years.

His many hobbies and interests included; camping, trains, his orange Jeep, drumming, hockey, the Miami Dolphins, and Disney's own Goofy. Jim was also a member of the Iron and Steel Society, and Cub Master of Pack 431.

Jim was well known for his generous heart, kind nature, positive attitude, and a radiant contagious smile, but most of all he was the best, loving and dedicated husband and father.

He is also survived by two siblings, Elizabeth Heilman and Gregory Heilman.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 11 a.m. in West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave, Reading, PA 19609. A viewing will be held Friday, May 12, 2017 from 5 to 8 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Avenue, West Reading, 19611 and Saturday, from 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will follow in Laureldale Cemetery. The Heilmann family requests that everyone who will be attending, please dress casual and in orange, Jim's favorite color.
