James Edwin Hartung, 62, of Shillington and formerly of Sinking Spring, died of natural causes January 12th at 8:59pm in the Emergency Room at The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.
He was the husband of Ana A. Sanchez-Hartung.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late John E. and Ruth (Harpst) Hartung.
He was a 1961 graduate of Wilson High School.
Hartung was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.
He was a Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War where he received the Purple Heart.
Hartung was employed 15 years as a lineman at Bell Telephone, Muhlenberg Township.
He was later employed 10 years at AT&T, Muhlenberg Township in computer diagnostics, last working in 1990.
Hartung was also a partner with his son James at Time Saver Cleaning, Shillington for 15 years last working Thursday.
He coached for the Van Reed Midget Football League (Spring Township)for a number of years and for over 10 years as a coach for the Wilson Jr. Soccer Club, Spring Township.
Hartung is also survived by a daughter, Andrea Lynne (Hartung) wife of Jason M. Hook at home and two sons, James Michael Hartung of Douglassville and Daniel John Hartung of Pittsburgh.
Other survivors include a brother, John William Hartung of Reading.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11:00 am in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield. Viewings Tuesday evening 6:30 - 8:00 pm and Wednesday morning 10:00 - 10:30 am in the Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 212 East Broad Street, Bethlehem, Pa 18018.
