James A. Hartranft, 45, of Proudfoot Drive, Robeson Township, died of natural causes March 15 at 11:05 a.m. in Hershey Medical Center, where he had been a patient since March 2 and following a lengthy illness.
Born in Lancaster, he was a son of Barbara (Spotts) Hartranft, Morgantown, and the late Arthur Hartranft.
Hartranft was employed for the past five years in the information management systems department by Reading Hospital, last working in January.
He was a Navy veteran.
Hartranft, who was the fiance of Kathleen R. (Neidig) Gumpher, is also survived by a son, James, and a daughter, Allison Hartranft, both of Reading.
Other survivors include five sisters: Bette (Hartranft) Aulenbach, West Lawn; JoAnne (Hartranft) Liszcz, Mohnton; Janet (Hartranft) Johnston, New Holland, Lancaster County; Donna (Hartranft) Holt, Lititz, Lancaster County; and Carol (Hartranft) Fry, Leola, Lancaster County.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Allegheny Lutheran Church, Knauers. Burial will be in the United Methodist Cemetery, Churchtown, Lancaster County. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements.
