James L. Giatras, 74, of Ruscombmanor Township, passed away on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 in Life Care Hospital, West Chester where he was a patient.
He was the husband of Rosalyn (D'Amico) Giatras
Born in Bayshore, Long Island, New York, he was a son of the late Louis and Helen (Keeler) Giatras.
He was a graduate of Sayville High School, Long Island and received a B.A. in Chemistry from the University of Delaware. He was also an Army Veteran.
He was employed as a chemist by Markel Corporation, Norristown and lastly at Bemis Manufacturing, Shabogen Falls, Wisconsin until retiring in 2001. He received patents at both places of employment.
He was a member of the American Legion Ray A. Master Post, Topton and a member of SPE. He served as a former Township Supervisor and State Constable for East Vincent Township.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his Son: David J. Giatras and wife Rebecca of Mohnton and his 2 Daughters: Patricia A., wife of Erec Maziarz of Spring City and Jennifer M. Giatras of Egg Harbor Township, N.J. Also 2 Sisters: Kathleen Bennett of Clearwater, Florida and Judy Holcomb of Canon, Georgia. He is also survived by 5 Grandchildren: Jeremy, Rachel, Sean, Christina and Victoria. He was predeceased by his son: Robert W. in 1972.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 3:00 pm in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 3640 Schuylkill Road, Spring City, Pa. 19475. Interment will be private.
