James D. Gerhart

James D. Gerhart, 63, passed away March 8, 2018, in his Exeter Township residence.

He was the beloved husband of Joy V. Gerhart, with whom he celebrated 33 years of marriage.

Born in Chicago, he was the son of the late Milford R. Gerhart and Elinor C. (Thompson) Bear.

James was a graduate of Wyomissing High School and attended Elizabethtown College.

He was employed as a salesman for various companies. He was also a freelance writer and published four books on math and home maintenance through McGraw Hill and NAHB from 1997 to 2000.

James was an avid Chicago Bears fan and technology enthusiast.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Thompson D. Gerhart, husband of Jennifer Scicluna, Dallas, TX; and one brother Bruce P., husband of Renee Gerhart, Cleveland, OH.

Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 16, 2018, at 9 a.m. in St Paul's Lutheran Church, 548 Old Swede Rd, Douglassville, PA 19518. Visitation will be held Thursday, March 15 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions in James' honor can be made to the American Heart Association, 968 Postal Rd #110, Allentown, PA 18109. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home Inc. 739 Penn Ave., West Reading, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be recorded at www.kuhnfuneralhomes.com
