James V. Gallagher, Sr.

James V. Gallagher, Sr., 80, of Sinking Spring, died August 19, 2014, in St. Joseph Medical Center.

He was the husband of Marjorie A. (Hallowell) Gallagher, to whom he was married for 57 years.

Born in Reading, he was the son of the late James V. and Margaret (Gehret) Gallagher.

He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in 1952 and Albright College in 1958.

James was vice president of Reading Heater and Supply Company.

He was a member of St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, Whitfield.

James was an avid golfer. He loved spending time with his family and supporting his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Colleen A., wife of William Hodnik, Wyomissing, James V., Jr., husband of Laureen, Sinking Spring and Kelly M., wife of Stephen Young, Morgantown; one sister, Catherine, wife of Alfred Walter and seven grandchildren, Kate, Meaghan, Molly, Shannon, James IV, Hannah, and Stephen.

He was predeceased by his sister, Margaret Sanocki.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, August 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius R.C. Church, with a visitation one hour before in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Ignatius R. C. Church, 2810 St Albans Dr, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. Edward J.
