James J. Flemming

James J. Flemming, Sr., 89, of Reading, died June 13, 2007 in ManorCare, Sinking Spring where he had been for one month.

His wife Margaret L. (Huls) Flemming, died October 12, 2001.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late James and Mary (Leisz) Flemming.

He was employed by Reading Optical and later Hirshland Optical until his retirement in 1988.

Mr. Flemming was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II, serving in India, Burma and China.

He was a graduate of Reading High School in 1937.

Jim was a member of St. Margaret's R.C. Church, where he served as an usher.

Survivors include his son, James J., Jr. husband of Connie Flemming, Mt. Penn; and three daughters, Christine M. Davies, Shillington, Mimi husband of Jeffrey Beck, Spring Twp. and Patricia A. wife of Dr. Ali Amin, Wyomissing. There is also one sister, Mary E. Vogel, Spring Twp. Eight grandchildren, Jeffrey Davies, Tracey Davies, Jennifer Reed, Colleen Flemming, James Flemming, III, Chelsea Beck, Tyler Beck and Alexandra Amin; and one great-granddaughter, Piper Reed also survive him. He was predeceased by one brother, John Flemming.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 1 p.m. in St. Margaret's Church 925 Centre Avenue Reading, PA 19601. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Margaret's Church at the above address.
