James Edward Bressler

James Edward Bressler, 70, of Ephrata, died April 13, 2014 in ManorCare Health Services, Spring Township.

He was the husband of Marian Louise (Moser) Bressler, whom he married December 16, 1983.

Born August 13, 1943 in Reading, he was a son of the late Norman John, Jr. and Dorothy (Druzba) Bressler.

James was a 1962 graduate of Wilson High School.

He was employed as a police officer for 41 years, having worked with Reading Police Department and Brecknock Police Department, where he retired from in July of 2008.

James was a member of New Covenant Church of God, Ephrata.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are his three children: Vickie L., wife of Drew Warner of Reading; Robert J. Bressler of Wilmington, DE and Alicia A. Bressler of Mohnton; four stepchildren: Colleen A. Graul of Reading; Colette M. Bressler of West Reading; Christine L. wife of Brian Wentzel of Spring Township and Vincent Serafino, Jr. of Ephrata, Lancaster County.

Also surviving are his two sisters, Kathryn, wife of Lawrence Hertz of Wyomissing and Maryann, wife of Carl Spatz of Mohrsville and his brother, Larry, husband of Carmen Bressler of Oley.

Other survivors include his grandson, Christopher D. Warner; four step-grandchildren, Nathaniel Graul, Maria Miller, Brandon Wentzel and Ciarra Wentzel and nieces and nephews, John, Jessica, Jenalee and Charles.

Services will be Friday at 12 p.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m in the funeral home. Burial will be in Berks County Memorial Gardens, Maidencreek Township.
