James C. Becker

James C. Becker, 94, of Wyomissing, died January 14, 2013 in The Highlands at Wyomissing.

His first wife, Mary P. Becker, passed away in 1970 and his second wife, Ruth D. Becker, passed away in 1989.

Born in Oak Park, IL, he was the son of the late Henry F. and Christina (Fitting) Becker.

James was a 1939 graduate of Purdue University.

He worked for Western Electric for 30 years, retiring as a senior engineer in 1981.

James was a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, Whitfield.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in WWII.

He is survived by his two children: Mary Ann, wife of Thomas J. Blocher, Gilbertsville and James M. Becker, husband of Joan L. Markman, Philadelphia. Also surviving are his three stepchildren: Ann Boaman, Lady Lake, FL; James S. Distelhorst, Seattle, WA and Jane Sansbury, Bethesda, MD and his two sisters: Catherine Kneisler, Charlston, IL and Mary Tannehill, La Porte, IN. Three grandchildren: Krysta Blocher, Gilbertsville; Andrew Becker and Elizabeth Becker, both of Philadelphia, also survive him.

James was predeceased by his sister, Jean Kennedy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St Albans Dr., Sinking Spring, PA 19608. A viewing will be 10 to 11 a.m. in the church. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society, 498 Bellevue Ave., Reading, PA 19605 or to St. Ignatius Loyola R.C.
