James A. Burkart

James A. Burkart, 71, of Wernersville, died October 4, 2012 in Phoebe Berks.

He was the husband of Karen L. "Cookie" (Angstadt) Burkart.

Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Samuel G. and Ottilia R. (Maurer) Burkart.

Jim was a graduate of Reading High School in 1961.

He was veteran of the U.S. Air Force serving as crew chief on the F105 in Germany during the Vietnam War.

Jim was a Master Mechanic for 40 years retiring in 2003.

He loved to travel, especially enjoying his numerous trips to Alaska. The Caribbean was another favorite destination. An owner of a second home in Delaware, Jim loved to take his boat out and fish in both the bay and the ocean.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Christina L., wife of Sean M. Rossi, Reading and a brother, John D. Burkart. Three grandchildren also survive him.

He was predeceased by one brother, Girard C. Burkart.

Graveside services will Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Forest Hills Memorial Park.
