It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jacob "Jack" Vanino Jr., 99, of Wyomissing. Jacob passed away peacefully on December 15, 2025, at Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center.
Jacob was born on October 9, 1926, to Giacomo and Giuseppina Vanino in Paluzza, Italy, where he was the youngest of six brothers and sisters. All five siblings predeceased him and his loving spouse of 72 years, Dorothy Irene.
He is survived by his two children: Jeffrey C. Vanino (Lori) of Hilton Head, SC and Kevin J. Vanino (Toni) of West Lawn, PA. He was Pop Pop to Derek S. Vanino (Alexa), Bradley J. Vanino (Megan), and Adam J. Vanino (Thérèse). His five great grandchildren, Andrik, Alana, Penelope, Jackson, and Beckham, adored him.
Jacob graduated from Wilson High School in 1944. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army serving in the Philippines during World War II. Next, he served in the Korean War and was honorably discharged from the military on June 12, 1952. Jack had a distinct and honorable love for his country, so he cherished and joyfully participated in several Veteran Day events and military parades to represent his country with great respect. He worked for many years at the R. M. Palmer Company and eventually retired in 1996.
Throughout his life, Jacob also was heavily involved with motorcycling. Following a successful racing career, he became the head official for American Motorcycle Association racing events throughout the mid-Atlantic region. In addition, Jack was a champion go-cart racer capping his career by winning a national event held at the famed Reading Fairgrounds.
His family and friends are comforted by his love and memory because he touched numerous lives with his gentle, caring, and selfless acts of kindness. He exemplified love of God, Family, and Country.
The family would like to acknowledge Mitzi Ruggieri of Griswold Home Care for her dedicated service, devotion and care for our father.
