Jack H. Wertz

Jack H. Wertz, 81 of Shoemakersville died November 1, 2018 at Maidencreek Place with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Burkhart) Wertz. Jack was born in Centre Township and was the son of the late Floyd S. Wertz and Margaret M. Moyer and was raised by his mother and the late Ralph A. Moyer. He was a 1955 graduate of Perry High School and was employed as a truck driver for 25 years by Mid Atlantic Canners, Hamburg. After retirement Jack enjoyed working at Perry Golf Course, Shoemakersville and also worked for the County of Berks at Kaercher Creek. Jack enjoyed golf, Nascar Racing and held a 25-year safe driving award from his employer. Jack was a faithful member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shoemakersville. In addition to his wife, Jack is survived by a son, Daryl J. husband of Karen L. (Kauffman) Wertz, Bernville, a daughter Cheryl L. (Wertz) wife of Michael L. Faust, Shoemakersville, grandchildren, Jennifer Faust fiancé of Andrew Kulp and Adam Faust, Rachel (Faust) wife of Neil K. Shirk, Jr. and Amanda and Cody Wertz and his great granddaughter Cali M. Shirk. He is survived by one brother, James husband of Sylvia Wertz, Shoemakersville and was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and Gene. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 354 Zion's Church Road, Shoemakersville, PA. A viewing will be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service with burial in St. Luke's Cemetery, Shoemakersville. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Parkinson's Foundation, 1359 Broadway Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.
