J. Richard "Dick" Wagner, 82, of Reading, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2011 in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center, West Reading. Born in West Reading, he was the son of Ira J. and Sara(Rothenberger) Wagner.
He was a graduate of Reading High School and The Philadelphia Textile Institute.
Dick worked as a textile engineer at Munsingwear Company and Franklin Process Company. He was President of the Crown Knitting Mill, Mohrsville, PA. He served as a former Director of Leesport Bank, and was on the Board of Birch Hill Cemetery.
Dick was an accomplished saxophone player and played in many local Big Band music bands and Jazz bands. He was also an avid boater, with a particular love of the Chesapeake.
He is survived by his dear friend Nancy Gardner of Wyomissing.
He is also survived by his former wife Jane K. Geggenheimer of Muhlenberg Township.
In addition, he is survived by his three sons: Richard S., husband of Sharon Wells Wagner of West Lawn; J. David, husband of Betty Wagner of Aldama, Mexico, and Terry S. Wagner of Muhlenberg Township. He is survived by a step-son Richard Werner, husband of Judy Werner of Muhlenberg Township, and a step-daughter, Connie Wagner, wife of Chris Wagner of Wilmington, NC.
Dick is also survived by his sister Kathleen A. Wagner of The Heritage of Green Hills, as well as four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
A Private Service will be held at the convenience of the family.
