Iva P. Pochuski

Iva P. (Schlegel) Pochuski, 79, formerly of Shillington and Wyomissing Hills, passed away the evening of Sunday, December 1, 2024, in the care of Phoebe Berks. She was the widow of William J. Pochuski, Sr., who passed away August 13, 2017.

Born in Reading to the late Harvey and Pauline (Heilinger) Schlegel, Iva graduated from Wilson High School in 1963. In 2009 she graduated from Reading Area Community College with her nursing degree. She retired in 2016 as a licensed practical nurse from Phoebe Berks. Previously, she worked as a banquet server for 25 years with her beloved Yayas at the Sheraton.

A member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church, Iva served as a past president of the St. Ignatius Seniors and served the congregation as an Eucharistic Minister.

Left to treasure her memory are her children: William Pochuski Jr., husband of Stephanie Black-Pochuski, of Muhlenberg; Angela Pochuski of Exton; and Virginia Rightmyer, widow of Steven Rightmyer, and fiancé of Joshua Sturn, of Muhlenberg; grandchildren Kathryn Pochuski wife of Patrick Miller of Columbia, MO; Cory Rightmyer fiancé of Lauren Spease of Muhlenberg; and Matthew Basiago, husband of Nicole Basiago, of Bath; and great grandchildren Tate Pochuski and Nathaniel, Benjamin, and Ophelia Basiago. Iva is also survived by her siblings, Harold Schlegel, Warren Schlegel, Joyce Schlegel, and Edith Harbaugh.

In addition to her husband, William, and parents, Iva was predeceased by her sisters Elsie Schlegel and Darlene Warnick.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, December 9, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., at St. Ignatius of Loyola Church, 2600 St Albans Dr, Reading, PA 19609, with committal to follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Reading.
