Israel R. Fuentes

Israel R. Fuentes, 76, passed away August 23, 2021, in Florida.

He was the beloved husband of Miriam (Burgos) Fuentes, with whom he celebrated 17 years of marriage.

Born in Hatillo, Puerto Rico, he was the son of the late Juan Fuentes and Maria (Santiago) Rosado.

He was a parishioner of St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Reading, where he was a long time member of the church choir.

Israel enjoyed listening to music, playing the cuatro, playing dominoes but most importantly he loved spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Israel Fuentes Jr., Reading; Marixsa Fuentes, Reading; Angel L. Fuentes, Arizona; Tony Vega, Allentown; and Jennifer Hernandez, Florida. He is also survived by his four siblings, Angelica Betancourt, Aida Torres, Rafael Fuentes and Juana Morales; eleven grandchildren, Amanda Garcia, Israel Fuentes III, Isaiah Fuentes, Priscilla Burgos, Angel Fuentes Jr., Aliyah Vargas, Arianna Fuentes, Brianna Vega, Lexi Vega, Jonathan Vega, and Carlos Rodriguez; four great-grandchildren, Lilianna Fuentes, Lucianna Fuentes, Laela Garcia, and Jahzier Perez; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Israel was predeceased by his 1st wife, Carmen Fuentes, and four siblings, Teresa Centeno, Ernesto Rosado , Rosa Galan, and Edith Fuentes.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 10 a.m. in St. Peter the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, 322 S. 5th St., Reading PA 19602, with burial to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. Viewing will be held Friday, August 27, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, 5153 Kutztown Rd., Temple, PA 19560 and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the church.
