Known as a faithful and loving husband and father, Irving Paul Cook, 87, of Wyomissing passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, September 17, 2013, in Highlands at Wyomissing.
His wife, Geraldine Smith Cook, died July 22, 2012. They were happily married for 61 years.
Irv was born, July 20, 1926, in Manchester, CT. He was the son of the late Paul and Florence Cook.
He completed his engineering degree at the University of Connecticut after he served in the United States Navy, trained as a pilot. Soon after he married Gerry, they relocated to Pennsylvania. He worked for UGI in Harrisburg, Philadelphia and Reading PA, retiring as the Vice President of Gas Supply and Planning.
Irv was a proud and devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be truly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by five children: Maryellen, wife of Jim Remich, Catherine, wife of Dale Dietrich, Joanne, wife of Jeff Wagoner, Loretta, wife of Frank Roscitt and Paul S. Cook.
Irv is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Stephen and Jeffrey Remich; Amy (Dietrich) Killeen and David Dietrich; Daniel, Matthew, Benjamin, and Peter Wagoner; Michael and Brian Roscitt; and 6 great-grandchildren: Brady and Hayley Killeen; Fiona Dietrich; Ava and Tristan Wagoner; and Ryan Wagoner.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday September 28, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola Roman Catholic Church, 2810 Saint Albans Dr., Whitfield, PA, 19608. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Family and friends may call Saturday, from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the church. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading is in charge of arrangements.
