Irvin Earl William Gehret, 87, formerly of Laureldale, died July 29, 2014 in Keystone Villa, Fleetwood.
Born November 8, 1926 in Reading, he was a son of the late Irvin Earl, Sr. and Dorothy E. (Walters) Gehret.
Irvin was employed in the shipping department of Armour Meat Packing, Reading for 26 years. He then went on to work with Windsor Service, Muhlenberg Township for 16 years, retiring in 1988.
He served in the U.S. Marines during World War II.
Irvin was a life member of Central Fire Company, Laureldale, Rainbow Fire Company, Reading, Ivy Leaf, Reading and Marine Corp League, where he was also past chaplain.
Surviving are his five children: David W., husband of Ann of Robesonia; Kathleen, widow of James Rathman of Shillington; Timothy E. Gehret of Shillington; Robert L. Gehret of Reading and Susan L., wife of Paul R. Grimes of Lower Heidelberg Township.
Also surviving is his sister, Lorraine A. (Gehret), widow of Roland Hoffman of Lincoln Park.
There are also ## grandchildren and ## great grandchildren.
Irvin was predeceased by his granddaughter and his sister, Charmaine (Gehret) Haas.
Services will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale. A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Park, Exeter Township.
