Irene S. Sweigart

Irene S. (Hainley) Sweigart, 89, of West Reading, passed away November 20, 2016, at the Reading Hospital.

Her husband, Luther H. Sweigart, died November 30, 1990.

Born in West Cocalico Township, she was the daughter of the late John and Ellen (Stohler) Hainley.

She is survived by her daughter, Edith M. "Edie", widow of John Nestro, West Reading; her step-son, Ralph, husband of Esther Sweigart, Bernville; and three grandchildren: John Nestro, Jr., husband of Roberta Gerhart; Michele McCammitt; and Ann, wife of Daren Geschwindt. Four great-great-grandchildren: Matthew McCammitt and Morgan McCammitt; Travis Geschwindt and Connor Geschwindt; two step great-grandchildren: Matthew Tillinger and Tyler Geschwindt as well as her beloved dog, Jewlie survive her.

She was predeceased by her brothers Claude, William, Martin, Norman, Harry; and sisters Sadie and Grace.

For 29 years, she was employed by the Reading Hospital.

Irene loved to read and complete word search puzzles. She enjoyed watching the food network and spending time with family and Jewlie.

The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of Reading Dialysis, Western Berks Ambulance, Reading Hospital's MICU and Doctor Sajjad Shah for their care and compassion.

Donations can be made in her memory to the Animal Rescue League at 58 Kennel Road in Reading, Pennsylvania.
