Irene Mahon

Irene (Costello) Mahon, 96, formerly of Scranton, PA died March 27, 2011 in the Spruce Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, West Reading.

She was the wife of William Henry Mahon, who died December 19, 1959.

Born in Scranton, PA on August 20, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Thomas F. and Mary (Kenahan) Costello.

Irene is survived by three children: William E., husband of Kathleen A. (Tarantino) Mahon of Leesport; Judith A. (Mahon), widow of Joseph Vanderbeek of Phillipsburg, NJ and Gerard, husband of Barbara (Lahm) Mahon of East Stroudsburg.

Other survivors include 8 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by six siblings: Joseph Costello, Florence Riley, Stella Riley, Alice English, Helen Donnegan and Rose McGraw.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 2, 2011 at 9:30 am in Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 316 William St., Scranton, PA 18508. A visitation will be held one hour prior to Mass in the Church. Burial will be in Cathedral Cemetery, 1708 Oram Blvd., Scranton, PA 18504.
