Irene M. Elensky

Irene M. Elensky, 95, resident of Maidencreek Place and formerly of Hamburg, passed away on Friday, July 18, 2025, in the care of Reading Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Paul J. Elensky, who passed away on October 16, 2021.

She was born in West Hazleton to the late Victor and Mary (Holodick) Sterba.

Irene was a very active member of St. Mary Roman Catholic Church. Her faith was very important to her. For many years she worked cleaning the church and the rectory. She also enjoyed doing her jigsaw puzzles, crosswords and playing bingo.

Irene's memory will be treasured by her daughter, MaryBeth Ferris, wife of Michael, of Hershey. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and their families.

In addition to her husband, Paul, Irene was predeceased by her siblings, Margaret, Thomas, Mary, Joseph, George, Victor, and Bernadine.

Contributions in Irene's memory may be offered to the St. Mary's Memorial Fund, 94 Walnut Rd, Hamburg, PA 19526. Her family also invites trees to be planted in Irene's memory.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated for Irene on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. with committal to follow at St. Bertha's Cemetery of Tuscarora. Kuhn Funeral Home & Crematory, Hamburg, is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
