Irene F. Didyoung

Irene F. Didyoung, 92, passed away on June 6, 2023 at Mifflin Center. Born in Reading, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Josephine (Nowotarski) Bukowski and was the loving wife of Robert F. Didyoung. Married on May 26, 1950, they shared 52 wonderful years together until his passing in 2002.

She was a devoted mother to her 5 children, Robert , Jr. deceased (Ellen), Timothy (Marie), Sue Michel (Mark Czarnecki), Kathy Shay (Barry), and Anne Cutler (Chris.) She was a loving "Nanny" to her 12 grandchildren (Jeremy, Jason, Jacob, Joseph, Christopher, Michael, Alex, Patrick, Nicholas, Joanne, Pam, Rachel) and 14 great-grandchildren. Family was the light of her life.

An active member of St. Catherine's for over 50 years, Irene started a gym program in their grade school and served as a eucharistic minister from 1986-1993. She also volunteered at the parish bazaar for many years and was active in Cursillo. She was a President of the Jr. Catholic Woman's Club of Reading and Berks County. For the last 20 years, she was a devoted member of St. Benedict's Church as a member of the "Prime Timers" and "Red Hats." She attended daily mass and served as a greeter on Sundays.

Irene graduated from St. Mary's Parish School and Central Catholic High School, where she was a cheerleader. She worked for Robert F. Didyoung Insurance, Agents Consolidated, and Gilbert Commonwealth, and most recently worked part time as a receptionist at St. Joseph Villa.

She was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan for most of her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at 11 am at the Church of St. Benedict, 2020 Chestnut Hill Rd, Mohnton, PA 19540. Visitation will be held from 10am until the time of service. Burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.
