Irene Elizabeth Babula

Sister Robertine Babula, 87, of the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Third Order Regular of St Francis, died of natural causes on Sunday morning, July 17, 2022, at St. Joseph Villa, Reading, PA, where she had resided since 2012.

Born in Stamford, CT, she was a daughter of the late Wladyslaw P. and Teofila M. (Gostomska) Babula.

Sister Robertine entered the Bernardine Order on August 11, 1953, and was in her 69th year of religious life. Sister earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Villanova University, Villanova, PA. She served her ministry in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Texas as an Elementary teacher, librarian, and in retreat ministry and hospitality.

Sister is survived by the members of her Bernardine Franciscan Congregation. There are no surviving immediate family members.

A viewing will be held at St Joseph Villa, Reading, PA on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 2:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, July 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m, at St. Joseph Villa Chapel, Reading, PA, Burial will follow in the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters Cemetery, Mount Alvernia, Reading, PA.
