Ignatius J. "Iggie" Lachina, 83, Reading, died September 5, 2013, in Reading Hospital.
He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Ross) Lachina.
Born in Reading, he was a son of the late Joseph and Isabella (Valerio) Lachina.
He was owner/operator of Lachina Brothers Trucking Excavating and Demolition Company, retiring in 2003.
Iggie was a devoted member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Reading.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children: Michael J., husband of Debra, Denver, PA; Diane M., wife of Marty Campfield, Palmyra; Linda A., wife of Denny Luckenbill, Bethel; and Joseph M., husband of Amy, Reading.
There are three siblings: Connie Lachina; Angelo,
husband of Deborah; and Nancy Kerr, all of Reading. Eighteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also
survive him.
He was predeceased by five siblings: John, Millie Amadio, Augusta Corry, Ann Neider and Lucy Faust.
There will be no viewing and burial will be held at a later date. Iggie's wishes were that his body be donated to The Humanities Gift Registry for the purpose of medical advancement.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Peter's RCC, 322 S. 5th St. Reading PA 19602.
