Ida Phillipine

Ida Phillipine, 101, of Country Meadows, Wyomissing, passed away during the late hours of Wednesday, October 26, 2022. She was the loving widow of Louis J. Phillipine, who passed away in 2003 after 61 years of marriage. Ida and Louie enjoyed dancing and loved to travel, Hawaii being one of their favorites. She also loved family gatherings.

Born in Pottsville to the late Salvatore and Concetta (Failla) Merlino, Ida worked for many years at Berkshire Knitting Mills. She last worked as a candy packer for R. M. Palmer until her retirement in 1974.

Ida served as Treasurer of the West Reading Ladies Auxiliary of the West Reading Fire Company.

Left to treasure Ida's memory are her sons, Louis Phillipine, husband of Patricia, of Las Vegas, NV, and Dennis Phillipine, husband of Carolyn, of Bonita Springs, FL; her grandchildren, Joseph (Nicole) Phillipine, Matthew (Kristin) Phillipine, Nicole (Rodney) Martin, and Mark (Justine) Phillipine; and her great-grandchildren, Alexander, Ava, Anna, Lucy, and Capri; step-grandchildren, Sage and Alex Angelisanti; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Louis, Ida was predeceased by her seven siblings, Grace, Mary, Mariano, Benjamin, Charles, Louise, and Rita.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ida's memory may be made to a charity of choice.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 3, 2022, at Sacred Heart Church, 740 Cherry St, West Reading, PA 19611, with committal to follow at Gethsemane Cemetery, Hyde Park. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the start of mass at the church. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
