Ida M (Burkhart) Hafer

Ida M Hafer,100, of the Highlands, Wyomissing went to be with the Lord on June 29th. Born in Reiffton, Ida was the daughter of the late Floyd and Mary (Mull) Burkhart.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carl Hafer and her two brothers, Henry and Edwin Burkhart.

She graduated from Mount Penn High School, class of 1936.

Ida was last employed in the cash office of Boscov's West, retiring after 35 years in 2002.

She was a member of the Reading Hospital auxiliary and a 64 year member of West Lawn United Methodist Church. She was also a long-time member of the West Lawn Seniors.

Ida loved to travel, bake, follow the Phillies and enjoy time with her family and friends. She crocheted blankets for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Ida is survived by her sons: Brian Hafer, Columbus, Ohio and Randy Hafer, Kutztown. She is remembered by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 6 at 10:00 AM at Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc. 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Internment will follow at Forest Hills Memorial Park, 390 W Neversink Rd. Reading. Friends may call Friday from 9:00 to 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to West Lawn United Methodist Church, 15 Woodside Ave, West Lawn, PA 19609.
