Ida I. Britigan

Ida Irene (Rahn) Britigan, 93, of Columbia Cottage, Spring Township and formerly of Temple died April 3, 2007 at 8:41 am in the Emergency Room at the Reading Hospital.

She was the widow of William Lincoln Britigan, who died in 1945.

Born February 18, 1914 in Temple, she was a daughter of the late Jacob and Laura S. (Kerschner) Rahn.

She attended Muhlenberg High School.

Ida was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church, Laureldale.

She was employed a number of years with Western Electric, Muhlenberg Township, until her retirement in 1972.

Ida enjoyed a long and full life. She traveled extensively and enjoyed walking. Her many varied hobbies included card club, crossword puzzles, bird watching, bowling, needlecraft and reading. Ida was an avid Phillies fan.

She is survived by a daughter, Barbara A. (Britigan) widow of Norman Sensenig Jr., of Muhlenberg Twp and a son, William A. husband of Bonnie Lee (Wurst) Britigan of West Earl Township, Lancaster County.

Ida is also survived by a sister, Edna (Rahn) widow of Elwood Herb of Muhlenberg Township.

Other survivors include five grandchildren, Deborah A. (Hessler) Shugar, Melissa L. Hessler, Jaime L. Britigan, Todd E. Sensenig and William W. Britigan.

There are also four great grandchildren, Catherine A. Shugar, Taryn M. (Shugar) Himmelreich, Mackenzie J. Britigan and Taryn E. Britigan.

Other survivors include three step grandchildren, Scott C. Sensenig, Michael C. Sensenig and Jay N. Sensenig and five step great grandchildren, Bryn Sensenig, Kyle Sensenig, Carly Sensenig, Tyler Sensenig and Jordan Sensenig.

Ida was expecting her first great-great grandaughter, Genivieve G. Himmelreich.

Services will be Thursday at 1:00 pm in Calvary Lutheran Church, 1009 Elizabeth Avenue, Laureldale, with a visitation one hour prior to services in the church. Burial will be in Laureldale Cemetery.
