Howard F. "Chub" Wanshop, 77, of Reading, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010 in his residence.
Born in Reading, h e was the son of the late Howard and Helen (Gehris) Wanshop
He was the husband of the late Janet L. (Graham) Wanshop.
He was employed in the plumbing and heating industry, working 44 years for Harold R. Boone, retiring in 1999. He was a past member of the Reiffton and Lower Alsace Fire companies, a current member of the Oley Fire Company, and a member of Camp Konfused, where he loved to hunt. He also enjoyed going to flea markets, working outside, and loved car racing. He attended Zion-Spies Evangelical Reformed Church and was a veteran of the Korean War.
He is survived by three sons, Thomas Wanshop and his wife Darlene of Temple; David Wanshop and his wife Marge of Reading; and Michael Wanshop of Reading; a sister, Viola Seidel of Reading; a special friend, Marie Kissling of Reading; five grandchildren: Eric, Tim, Geoff, and Danielle Wanshop, Jessica Stoltzfus; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Violet Hinnershitz, and a brother, John Wanshop.
Services will be held on Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at 11:00 am in Blankenbiller Funeral Home, 423 Main Street, Oley, with Rev. Merrill R. Marisseau officiating. Burial will follow in Spies (Zion) Cemetery. Family and Friends may view on Monday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 pm and on Tuesday from 10:00-11:00 am . .
