Howard R. Moyer

Howard Rudolph Moyer, 86 of Maidencreek Township died September 29, 2008 at 6:38 p.m. in Reading Hospital.

For over 66 years he was the husband of Arline E. (Rahn) whom he married February 14, 1942.

Born January 29, 1922 in Maidencreek Township he was a son of the late Sylvester S. and Minnie Alice (Christ) Moyer.

Howard was a self-employed farmer in Maidencreek Township for 50 years, retiring in 1997.

He was a member of St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Molltown.

Howard was also a member of the Fleetwood Grange #1839 and the Pennsylvania Farmer's Association.

He was a proud Army Veteran of World War II, where he served in the 29th Army Division. He was in the invasion of Normandy and the Battle of the Bulge. He received a Purple Heart and held the rank of sergeant.

Also surviving is a daughter Linda M. (Moyer) Fritzinger of Ontelaunee Township.

In addition there is a brother, Lee S., husband of Betty (Kramer) Moyer of Myerstown and two sisters, Minnie V. (Moyer), wife of Kermit Schlegel of Richmond Township and Edna L. (Moyer) Hess of Allentown.

There is one granddaughter, Kelly A. (Fritzinger), wife of Craig Pauley and four great-grandchildren, Jeremy R., Justin H., Matthew J. and Jessica M all of Sinking Spring.

Howard was predeceased by a son, Howard A. Moyer, Jr. who died May 27, 1973; a grandson, Kevin H. Fritzinger who died August 24, 1993; two brothers, Edgar L. Moyer and Stanley M. Moyer and two sister, Helen L. (Moyer) Davis and Pauline V. (Moyer) Lorah.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Peter's U.C.C., 219 Maidencreek Road, Fleetwood, PA 19522. Viewings will be held Friday from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in the Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., 3300 Kutztown Road, Laureldale and Saturday an hour before the service in the church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Molltown.
