Howard E. Coombe

Howard Edward Coombe, 87, formerly of West Lawn, died October 30, 2011 in the Golden Living Center, Exeter Township.

He was married March 12, 1943 to Margaret Pursel (Harris) Coombe, who died July 14, 1995.

Born in Weatherly, Carbon County on January 14, 1924, he was a son of the late Burton and Mabel Uren (Fichter) Coombe.

He was employed 25 years with Sears, St. David, PA., before retiring as a group merchandise manager in 1983.

Howard was an Army Veteran of WWII.

He was a member of the Elk's Lodge #436, Bloomsburg and the American Legion Post #273, Bloomsburg.

Howard is survived by a daughter, Cassandra (Coombe), wife of Donald J. Proctor of Spring Township.

Other survivors include two grandchildren: Michele L. (Proctor) Heck of Spring Township and Kristopher A., husband of Melissa (Ventrella) Proctor of Tampa, Florida.

There are also three great grandchildren: Kaycee S. Heck, Megan H. Proctor and Amanda G. Proctor.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Salvation Army, 301 South 5th Street, Reading, PA 19602.
