Herbert G. Schubert, 76, of Wyomissing, passed away June 22, 2012 surrounded by his loving family in The Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Eva (Horner) Schubert.

Born in Forchheim, Germany, he was a son of the late Franz and Margaret (Wagner) Schubert.

In 1960 Herbert founded Schubert's Custom Cabinetry, Reading. Herbert and his company's legacy continues with his daughter and brother-in-law now operating the business.

He was an avid soccer player and played for Evergreen C.C., UGH Old Timers, Reading Amerks and the Philadelphia All-Stars soccer team. In 1958 he was awarded the Berks County Chamber of Commerce Soccer Award.

Herbert was an honorary member of both the Evergreen C.C. and Reading Liederkranz and a founding member of Evergreen C.C.

He was also a member of St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, Whitfield.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his daughter, Margit R. Schubert-Cacchione, wife of Joseph Cacchione, Wyomissing. Also surviving are his brother-in-law Michael, husband of Beverly Horner, Reading and his sisters-in-law: Leni Horner, Reading and Erika Schubert, Germany. Three grandchildren: Joseph Cacchione, Elke Cacchione and Christian Cacchione also survive him.

Herbert was predeceased by his brother, Hans Schubert.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Loyola R.C. Church, 2810 St. Alban's Drive, Sinking Spring, PA 19608. A viewing will be 8 to 10 a.m. in Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., 739 Penn Ave., West Reading. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Evergreen Country Club, 415 Hartz Rd, Fleetwood, PA 19522.
