Herbert J. Rausch, 83, of Hamburg died August 28th in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Ruth M. (Epting) Rausch to whom he was married nearly 53 years. Herbert was born in Windsor Township and was the son of the late Samuel and Mamie (Mengel) Rausch. He was peacetime U.S. Navy veteran. Herbert drove truck for Gotwals of Oley for 30 years and was last employed as a truck driver for E.S. Savage, Hamburg and Furnace Stream Farms, Windsor Township for several years. He was a member of St. Paul's (Smoke) Church, Windsor Township, where he served on church council and was past secretary. His memberships included: Hamburg Moose Lodge #523, lifetime member of both Union Fire Company #1 and beneficial and Hamburg Game Association, Lenhartsville Fish & Game Association, Kutztown Fire Company, Sunnyside Rod & Gun Club. In addition to his wife, Ruth, Herbert's survived by two daughters; Karen R. fiancé of Thomas Hartman, Sinking Spring, Dorothy M. wife of Craig Schappell, Hamburg, one son; Timothy husband of Vickie Rausch, Shoemakersville. Additional survivors include four grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Rausch and Natasha and Felecia Schappell. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM from St. Paul's (Smoke) Church, 2613 Old 22, Hamburg, PA (memorial contributions accepted at the church.) A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Burkey & Driscoll Funeral Home, Inc. 40 S. 4th Street, Hamburg and again on Monday from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church. Burial will be in Zion's Cemetery, Perry Township. Hamburg Moose Lodge #523 services will be held Sunday evening at 7:30 PM at the funeral home.
