Henry F. Weir

Henry Franklin Weir, 71, of Muhlenberg Township, died April 10th in the Reading Hospital and Medical Center.

He was the husband of Ella A. (Leinbach) Weir and predeceased by his first wife, Bessie (Moyer) Weir, who died in 1993.

Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was a son of the late Hugh and Laree (Kingot) Weir.

He was employed 44 years as an optician, working the last 25 years at Eye Physicians, Reading until his retirement.

Weir was a member of Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Tuckerton.

He was a member of the Fleetwood Grange #1839.

Weir is also survived by three sons, Timothy Weir of Jacksonville, Fl., Phillip Weir of Clifton, S.C. and Christopher Weir of Clifton, S.C.

Other survivors include two step-daughters, Helen (Hiester) Keller of Alsace Township and Marie (Hiester) Ohlinger of Ruscombmanor Township.

He is also survived by a brother, Allan Weir of Spartanburg, S.C. and three sisters, Blanche (Weir) DeRose of Kenhorst, Margaret (Weir) Weathers of Inman, S.C. and Diane (Weir) Cartee of Spartanburg, S.C.

There are eight grandchildren, five step-grandchildren and six step-great grandchildren.

Services will be Saturday at 10am in Good Shepherd United Church of Christ, Rt. 61 & Tuckerton Road. Viewing Saturday 9am until time of service. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to American Heart Association, 25 Stevens Avenue, West Lawn, Pa 19609 or National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY 10016. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
