Henry Merkel Heffner

Henry Merkel Heffner, 93, of Fleetwood, passed away January 31, 2014 in Keystone Villa, Douglassville.

He was the husband of Leona M. (Berndt) Heffner, whom he married August 5, 1945.

Born January 17, 1921 in Ruscombmanor Township he was a son of the late John Rapp and Mary Elda (Merkel) Heffner.

Henry was a printer, opening Heffner Printing, Pricetown, in 1948. He owned and operated the company until his retirement in 1988.

He was a member of Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, Oley.

Henry enjoyed hunting, NASCAR and Tony Steward and baseball, especially the Phillies. He loved his family and spending time with them and traveling with his wife. He was a member of Lyons Fire Company, Pikeville Sportsman's Association, Fleetwood Grange, and Ruscombmanor Fire Company.

Henry is survived by his son, Daniel H., husband of Alice Heffner, Wilson, NC; his daughter, Lynn P., wife of Darrell Neal, Fleetwood. Also surviving are his brother, John M. Heffner, Fleetwood; his three grandchildren: Jennifer Hoyer, Diana Partridge, and Meredith Shilling; and his two great-grandchildren: Ashley Hoyer and Gabriella Delong.

He was predeceased by his siblings: Roy M. Heffner, Charles Heffner, and Pearl Schuler.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in Kuhn-Stitzel Funeral Homes and Crematory, Inc., 423 Main St., Oley. A viewing will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Spies Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Friedens Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1076 Memorial Hwy, Oley, PA 19547.
