Henry Paul Haraschak

Henry "Hank" P. Haraschak, 94, passed away Tuesday, April 22, 2025, in the care of Wyomissing Skilled Nursing and Rehab.

He was born March 5, 1931, in his grandmother (Mary Stock Pollock)'s home at 107 New Cranberry, Hazle Township, Luzerne County to the late Andrew and Mary D. (Stock) Haraschak.

He was an honor graduate of West Hazleton High School, class of 1949. He served honorably in the United States Air Force, and he is a veteran of the Korean War and life member of the VFW.

Utilizing the G.I. Bill, he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Pennsylvania State University, graduating on June 7, 1958.

On June 14, 1958, he married the love of his life, Joan A. (VanGroski).

He was employed by Western Electric, AT&T Technologies, and Lucent for 26 years and retired as a Senior Test Set Design Engineer. During that time, he obtained a Master of Science degree in physics from Franklin & Marshall College and was elected to the Sigma Pi Sigma National Physics Society. He was also an adjunct instructor at Penn State Berks Campus in the Engineering Department for more than 25 years, finally retiring at the end of the Spring 2016 semester.

He was a member of St. Ignatius of Loyola Roman Catholic Church.

His memory will be treasured by his loving wife of 67 years, Joan; their sons, Henry A. Haraschak and his wife, Christine, and Gary V. Haraschak; grandchildren, Andrew J. Haraschak and his wife, Felicia; Amber J. Haraschak; and Alyssa J. Haraschak; and great grandchildren, Cora and Greyson.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Haraschak McCoy, and his brother, Richard J. Haraschak.

Services will be private. He will be laid to rest at Calvary Cemetery of Drums, Luzerne County. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc, is entrusted with arrangements. Condolences may be expressed at kuhnfuneralhomes.com.
