Helga B. Stewart

Helga B. Stewart, 79, of West Lawn, passed away peacefully May 26, 2017, in the Reading Hospital surrounded by her family.

She was the best friend and musical partner of her husband Horace "Sonny" Stewart to whom she was married for 53 years.

Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late Julius Bosselman and Anna Mary Weber.

Helga adored music. She was a piano teacher for over 50 years. She also was an amazing vocalist who taught voice for numerous years. She practiced her trade as an organist and choir director at countless churches over the years. Most recently, she held a position at the Wyomissing Church of the Brethren as church organist for the last ten years.

She was a vocalist for the Reading Civic Opera and a member of the Reading Choral Society. She loved listening to opera, especially some of her favorites that include: Renne Flemming and Luciano Pavarotti.

Helga enjoyed spending time with her family. She especially loved playing with her grandchildren. Helga loved the ocean and taking trips to the beach. She also enjoyed flowers and gardening.

She adored her piano students and loved to teach them everything she knew about music. Any of her current or past students are welcome to contact the Wyomissing Church of the Brethren at 610-374-8451 to be recognized at Helga's memorial service.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons: Scott A., husband of Jennifer Stewart, Richmond, VA; and Todd E. Stewart, husband of Wendy Blatt, Mohnton; one step-son: Craig L., husband of Connie Stewart, Reiffton; and three grandchildren: Samantha Jean Stewart, Todd E. Stewart, II, and Ever C. Stewart.

A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. at the Wyomissing Church of the Brethren at 2200 State Hill Rd., Wyomissing, PA 19610. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Edward J. Kuhn Funeral Home, Inc., West Reading, is entrusted with arrangements.
