Helen M. Wiswesser, a retired elementary teacher, died Aug. 20 at 3:15 a.m. in Reading Hospital, where she had been a patient eight days.

Wiswesser, 88, of Ontelaunee Drive, Ontelaunee Township, formerly of Friedensburg Road, Mount Penn, was predeceased by her husband, Earl F. Wiswesser, on Sept. 22, 1999.

She was employed for 35 years as a first and second grade teacher at the St. Lawrence Elementary School in the Exeter School District, retiring in 1976.

Born in Jessup, Lackawanna County, she was a daughter of the late Andrew J. and Wilhelmina S. (Saxe) Zeock.

Wiswesser was a graduate of Reading High School and the University of North Carolina, Greensboro, with a bachelor's degree in education.

She was a member of Holy Guardian Angels Roman Catholic Church, Hyde Park.

Surviving are a daughter, JoEllen A. (Wiswesser) Youse, Shoemakersville; and two sons, Dr. George A., Sinking Spring, and James E., Hobe Sound, Fla.

Other survivors include a sister, Margaret P. Zeock, Mount Penn; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church. Entombment will be in the Gethsemane Cemetery Mausoleum, Laureldale. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home Inc., Laureldale, is in charge of arrangements.
