Helen M. Hoffer

Helen M. (Batz) Hoffer, 95, formerly of Temple, died April 5, 2007 at 9:20 am in Manatawny Manor, Pottstown, where she had been a patient.

She was the widow of Theodore Hoffer, who died May 31, 1999.

Born June 20, 1911 in Berks County, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Eva Alice (Schmeck) Batz.

She was employed as a twister for 25 years with Quinlin Pretzel Bakery, Reading, retiring in 1952.

Helen was a member of Alsace Lutheran Church, Hyde Park.

She is survived by a son Richard T. husband of Natalie M. (Fish) Hoffer of Muhlenberg Township.

Other survivors include a sister, Charlotte (Batz) widow of Harry Noll of Kutztown and two brothers, Forrest husband of June Batz of Elizabethtown and Richard husband of Royetta Batz of College Heights.

Helen is also survived by four granddaughters, eight great grandchildren and two great-great granddaughters.

She was predeceased by a son, Ronald T. Hoffer, who died in 1986.

Services will be private with Rev. Mark E. Brophy officiating. Burial will be in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Muhlenberg Township. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Manatawny Manor, 30 Old Schuylkill Road, Pottstown, PA 19465. Walter R. Christ Funeral Home, Inc., Laureldale is in charge of arrangements.
